How Paul Pogba has been horribly mistreated at Manchester United

Since his rearrival at Manchester United in 2016, Paul Pogba has come under an abundance of criticism and abuse.

The prominent reason for the abuse from Premier League fans and pundits is the common illusion that he hasn't justified his price tag since his arrival.

While this argument is debatable, there are far more factors to lean towards Paul Pogba being a good role model and easily justifying his price tag than those opposing it.

To start with, let's look at his achievements-

In his second term at Manchester United, Paul Pogba has won a couple of trophies at club level and was awarded into the Premier League team of the season for 2018/19. The Frenchman contributed the opening goal to Manchester United's only Europa League final win, giving them a new trophy to their already exceptional trophy cabinet.

Despite the lacklustre season in 2018/19 where Manchester United only managed to finish 6th in the league, their second-lowest finish post-Alex Ferguson's retirement, Paul Pogba was one of the few players within the squad that maintained his class, contributing 0.67 G/A p90 in 47 appearances.

Despite these achievements showcasing his class and value to the team, Pogba has still come under abuse and criticism. As soon as he signed for the club, this behaviour started due to the announcement video being "unprofessional and immature", upsetting Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho from the get-go. With something as subtle as an announcement video annoying the special one, it was clear from the start that Pogba was not going to be liked for his personality at the club.

This dislike for his lifestyle and interests has continued throughout his time at the club.

With the player coming under abuse for his religion, his haircuts, his Instagram videos, his dances and even his family life, it seems the world cup winner can't catch a rest for his lifestyle.

The backlash Pogba has received over the years came to a rotten peak at the start of the 2019/2020 campaign. After Pogba missed a penalty vs Wolverhampton Wanderers, Pogba received countless amounts of racist language directed towards his social media handles, as well as his wife's social media handles.

This got so severe that it caused Manchester United star players such as David De Gea and Marcus Rashford to reach out and stick up for Paul Pogba, even calling for Twitter to make platform changes to prevent such abuse from happening.

As can be seen, from the examples above, it is no hidden fact that English pundits and Manchester United fans dislike Paul Pogba.

With this, it would come as no surprise that Pogba has expressed his desire to leave the club over the years at Manchester United.

Most recently, it is understood that Pogba is refusing to sign a new contract with Manchester United unless they match his high wage demands and showcase that he is desired and wanted at the club.

Something that has not been showcased so far.

With the red devils being owned by owners that have made it clear they are out to save money and earn money during their years at the club, the likelihood of pogba receiving his demands is almost impossible.

This money-saving has been showcased already this season, with players like Donny Van De Beek and Anthony Martial being sent out on loan and academy products being promoted on significantly cheaper wages to cover their places.

Pogba has been a star player for France and has showcased that with the proper treatment, he can show up when he is needed for France.

Pogba has won a World Cup and a National League trophy, showcasing his next-level vision and long-range passing ability throughout both tournaments.

What the French international will do and Where he will go next is unknown, with his top rumoured club Real Madrid already being stacked in midfield for years to come with Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde ready to take over for the legendary duo in Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, it would be unlikely that the Frenchman will be wanted at the Santiago Bernabeu.

More on this to follow.
