Luke Hirst scores as Hashtag United ease past Basildon United in a hectic win at Bowers & Giffords.

Luke Hirst and Jesse Waller-Lassen put Hashtag United in 6th place momentarily in the Isthmian League North following their solid 2-0 performance over Basildon United.

The Tags showcased composure and desire all over the pitch, with some heated encounters raising their performance.

Hirst put the tags ahead in the 10th minute with a stunning chip over Emmanuel Olajide; Olajide challenged the 21-year-old, blitzing at Hirst in an attempt to shock him.

Hashtag United's Anthony Page kept his side with a clean sheet exiting the first half, with Basildon showcasing some encouraging attacks in the final five minutes of the half.

Hashtag United started the second half with energy and discipline, preventing Basildon from hosting any serious chances, and scoring a second via captain Waller-Lassen.

Tonight's win takes Hashtag United to 6th momentarily, with Brentwood Town and AFC Sudbury having a series of games to play to determine Hashtag's league position.

Hashtag United will face 16th place Barking on the road in their next fixture, hoping to build off today's dominant performance.
