Southend face tough competition at Roots Hall

Phil Brown's Shrimpers will be looking to start a run of form following their 1-0 win over Eastleigh.

Nathan Ferguson's 69' minute goal on Tuesday night gave Brown and his side their first home win of the season in what has so far been a disappointing campaign.

Today they face tough competition against Chesterfield, who will be looking to fix their recent few games and get back on their title charge.

The game will commence at Roots Hall, giving Brown's side home advantage for the second game on the bounce.

The scheduled 15:00 kick-off could endure some issues as blues fans have expressed their intent to protest against owner Ron Martin.

Both sides will be seeking a win today as both sides can capitalise from the fixture.

For Southend, the possibility of starting a winning streak is on the horizon, along with safety from the drop zone.

For Chesterfield, a chance to correct their results in recent games and a must needed title challenge.

Which side will come out on top is to be decided. Tune in at kick-off on my Twitter @HSSheldrick for live updates.
